Foreword

Foreword

Overview

When I first started trading I was completely enamored by financial markets and the opportunities that are available to make money trading them. I was also absolutely lost on how to actually trade. Like many of you, I went from one thing to the next looking for that one golden “thing” that would make me rich. I quickly realized those things don’t exist and you should likely run from those claiming they do. Trading successfully requires a significant level of competency across multiple areas ranging from technical analysis to risk management, mental game and others.

Topics Covered

The framework is intended to share what guides my everyday decision making. I will be covering the topics of Preparation, Mindset, Trading the Open, Risk Management, Review and Journaling. We will also discuss some of the most important actionable sequences to me such as Rebid/Reoffer, Exhaustion and Absorption. I will wrap things up by talking about how I put all of that together into a Discretionary Strategy. This framework does not presume to cover every detail and nuance of each concept. I am just looking to provide a general overview to serve as a point of reference that may spark new thoughts for you as a trader.

I decided to make this accessible to all for free and I hope you get something out of it. Ultimately I hope to inspire you to create your own trading playbook that puts a framework to your own strategy. It will serve you well to have this documented as you can review it, modify it and use it to help stay on the right track.

Finally, the playbook and the contents inside of it are my personal thoughts and not necessarily the thoughts of OrderFlow Labs, all of the examples posted are from my chartbook and include reference to some of the OFL studies that capture many of the concepts discussed. None of the topics covered are financial advice nor should be viewed as such.

Enjoy!
